Get Involved with GMSBPA

The Gifford Middle School Band Parents Association, Inc. (GMSBPA) is the official school-sanctioned parent support organization for the Gifford Middle School Band, Chorus, and Colorguard programs. GMSBPA is also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our purpose is to support our students and directors by providing the volunteer, logistical, financial, and organizational support that helps these programs run smoothly and successfully.

What We Do

GMSBPA supports the programs in three main ways:

Fundraising

GMSBPA and our students host several fundraisers throughout the year to help support:

  • Instrument repairs, musical equipment, flags, rifles, sabres, and other performance equipment

  • Sheet music, choreography, and instructional materials

  • Transportation and equipment trailers

  • Concerts, competitions, performances, and event expenses

  • Uniforms, costumes, and performance attire

  • Clinicians, choreographers, accompanists, and special instruction

  • Band camp, workshops, trips, and student scholarships

  • Office, administrative, and other program expenses

Fundraising opportunities vary and may include car washes, popcorn sales, honey sales, wooden rose sales, and other special events.

Program Support

GMSBPA also helps provide the behind-the-scenes support our programs need throughout the year, including:

  • Communications

  • Logistics support

  • Volunteer support at school and off campus

  • Scholarships

  • Clinicians

  • Social activities, including end-of-year awards and celebrations

Volunteering

Parent and family volunteers are an important part of GMSBPA. Opportunities may include:

  • Concert chaperones

  • MPA chaperones

  • Fundraising assistants

  • End-of-year awards coordination and event setup

  • Other event and program support as needs arise

You do not have to take on a major role to make a difference. Whether you can help once or throughout the year, there is a place for you to contribute.

Come to a Meeting

The Association meets monthly, and all parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend. Meetings are a great way to learn what is happening in the programs, hear about upcoming needs and events, and find a way to get involved.

Executive Board

GMSBPA is led by an Executive Board, with officer positions filled annually. The board helps coordinate the work of the Association, organize support for the programs, and address needs throughout the school year.

Because middle school spans only three years, parent leadership turns over quickly. New families are especially encouraged to get involved early so they can learn the organization, contribute their talents, and help keep GMSBPA strong for the students who follow.
