Chaperone Guidelines
A successful musical program includes trips, concerts, and other activities designed to enhance a student’s musical experience. These activities are dependent on the assistance of dedicated parents and other supporters who work together via a well-organized chaperone program. The main purpose of this guide is to provide insight into the policies, duties, and responsibilities that pertain to chaperoning of Gifford Middle School music students.
In accordance with the Indian River County School Board, it is the direct responsibility of the music director to secure an appropriate number of responsible chaperones for trips and other musical activities as required. The music director may enlist the help of a chaperone/volunteer coordinator to assist with recruiting and assigning duties to chaperones during any trip or activity. However, the music director shall have the final authority and responsibility for the supervision of the students.
