Gifford Middle School Band gives grades 6–8 students a strong music program with three groups: Beginning Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band.
Students also take part in FBA Music Performance and Solo & Ensemble assessments.
In the school’s history, Gifford Middle School Band has earned statewide, regional, and national recognition for musical excellence.
GMS Bands have consistently earned superior ratings at the FBA Music Performance Assessment since the schools’ opening in 1995, and our bands have also performed at the Florida Southern College Middle School Band Symposium and the University of Florida and Stetson University Invitational Band Festivals.
In recent years, the Gifford Jazz Band was selected to perform at the Florida Music Educators Association Conference (2012). The GMS Symphonic Honor Band has been further distinguished by being selected to perform at the University of Georgia Middle School Festival (2012), the Music for All National Middle School Music Festival (2013), and the National Band Association/College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference (2014).
The success of the band program comes from the dedicated effort of our students, parents, and the support of the administration and school district.
After middle school, most of the students continue their music education in the Vero Beach High School Band or the Sebastian River High School Band.
